New Beginnings

What an incredible night it was for Madison. We attended the New Beginnings Program at the Church in honor of all the new Beehives that will be coming into Young Women's this year. The highlight was the slide show that Anne created of all the new incoming Beehives. It was a beautiful slide show showcasing each girl from birth until now, put to the most beautiful music. Madison was the last one in the slide show leaving a lasting image of her beautiful face. She is sooo excited for Young Women's that she's not counting down the days until her birthday, rather how many Sundays left before she's in YW's; which is only 3 Sundays away! I can't believe I have a little girl who will be a YW soon.

The HUT

I was feeling very adventurous one day and decided to throw all the rules out the door with this one. We collected a mattress, blankets, pillows, chairs, stools & duct tape for this awesome hut. I created this in the theater room in the basement, so that I didn't need to "see" the mess, I mean hut. Brett & Anamarie were in heaven as we diligently expanded this small hut into a hut mansion. Anamarie decorated the inside with her webkins stuffed animals, books, drinks and popcorn. I mounted my ipad to the inside for them to watch their movies; they had a blast!

Princess Brett

Anamarie's creative spirit has lead her to beautifying her little brother with dresses, headbands and bright makeup. Brett has even grown to enjoy this past time with his sister. I hope this doesn't having any negative lasting effects on him; but isn't he so cute??

Taylor and his friends dancing together

It's a Saturday night, and what better to do than dance. Taylor and 3 of his close friends had a blast dancing to SOS, Michael Jackson, and many more songs. They informed me that they are getting "prepared" for the Valentines dance that's coming up in a week. I must say, they were better then I expected. By the way, they had no idea I took these videos of them, and they are all over YouTube & Facebook right now. Teeheehee; I love embarrassing 13 year old boys.

Maddy's Science Project won; going to District!

Maddy was surprised when a 6th grade teacher announced her name as one of the winners of the Science Fair. The inspiration came from a silly YouTube video called "double rainbow".  Basically, it's a guy totally excited about seeing a double rainbow that he even starts to cry with joy. With over 24 million hits this is one of the most watched "clean" videos, so it was turned into a song as well. One night as we were singing the double rainbow song, the idea came to us, and Madison took the idea and ran with it. She had a brilliant idea that was so unique that her teacher said in all her years of teaching, she had never seen or heard this idea. Maddy designed her project around a simple question "how does shinning different colors of light through a prism affect the colors of the rainbow?" We have a spotlight with 4 different color lenses. She  discovered that by placing a red lens over the spotlight the output is only red. A yellow lens showed all the colors except purple, green showed only three colors: yellow, green & blue. The blue lens show all the colors with blue making up the largest amount of color. White light obviously showed a perfect amount of all the colors of the rainbow. With her originality and great presentation, this was a slam dunk for her. We are going to AMP up her presentation a little for District and I am so excited to see how far she goes.

BYU Basketball Fans!

Brady bought tickets to the best BYU Basketball game played this year. He took his two favorite buddies; Taylor & Madison. With matching t-shirts, nose bleed seats, and a very late school night; they had a night they will never forget.

Here's a recap of the game:
In what may have been the biggest regular-season game in his conference's history, Jimmer Fredette showed why he's on the short list for best players in the country. In fact, he might top it. Fredette poured in 43 points and No. 9 BYU earned its 10th straight win Wednesday with a 71-58 victory over fourth-ranked and previously unbeaten San Diego State

Brett's bathroom

Brett has a certain spot in the house where he likes to "do his business", and it's in the corner of a door and a small part of the wall in the main entry. He goes to this place everyday when he's feeling the urge to go "#2". He hides his face deep into the crack of the wall and grunts for about 30 seconds...I know, TMI :) It's so cute though. The funny little things kids do.
